3M Speedglas 9100 Series Parts and Filter Guide

← All Posts helmets Weld Gear Team

The 3M Speedglas 9100 series spans four ADF filter levels - 9100V, 9100X, 9100XX, and 9100XXi - plus flip-front (9100 FX) and PAPR-integrated (9100 FX-Air) variants. Understanding which parts are shared across the series and which are variant-specific is essential for ordering correctly. This guide maps the full parts ecosystem.

The ADF Filters: Variant-Specific Cartridges

Each 9100 ADF filter is a separate part. Upgrading from a lower 9100 variant to a higher one is accomplished by swapping the ADF cartridge.

ADF VariantPart NumberKey Feature
9100V06-0000-10Entry-level 9100
9100X06-0000-20Mid-tier 9100
9100XX06-0000-30High-end 9100
9100XXi06-0000-30iNatural Color Technology, TIG to 1 amp

The 9100XXi cartridge is also sold as a kit (06-0000-30i-KIT*) which includes the 9100XXi filter with a silver front panel.

Batteries: Headband Location, Two Required

All 9100 series ADF cartridges use two batteries, part number 04-0320-00 (sold as a 2/case). The batteries are housed in the headband assembly, not in the ADF cartridge itself. This design keeps the ADF cartridge lighter and centralizes the battery compartment in a more accessible location.

To replace batteries:

  1. Locate the battery holder on the headband inner assembly
  2. Open the battery compartment cover
  3. Replace both batteries simultaneously
  4. Close the compartment and verify ADF activation

Outside Cover Lenses: Shared Across the Series

One of the 9100 series’ design strengths is that the outside protection plate is shared across all 9100 variants and also fits the G5 series:

PartDescriptionPack Size
06-0200-51Standard outside plate10/case
06-0200-51-BStandard outside plate (bulk)50/case
06-0200-52Scratch-resistant outside plate10/case
06-0200-52-BScratch-resistant (bulk)50/case
06-0200-53High-temperature outside plate10/case
06-0200-53-BHigh-temperature (bulk)50/case

The scratch-resistant 06-0200-52 is worth the modest premium for welders who do a lot of positional work where the outside of the helmet is close to workpiece surfaces. The high-temperature 06-0200-53 is for applications with extreme radiant heat exposure.

Inside Cover Lenses: Variant-Specific

The inside protection plate is not shared across variants. Each ADF size has a specific inside plate. Ordering the wrong inside plate is the most common parts mistake on the 9100 series.

ADF VariantInside Plate Part NumberPack
9100V06-0200-105/case
9100V (bulk)06-0200-10-B25/case
9100X06-0200-205/case
9100X (bulk)06-0200-20-B25/case
9100XX / 9100XXi06-0200-305/case
9100XX / 9100XXi (bulk)06-0200-30-B25/case

Match the inside plate to your ADF variant. The 9100XX and 9100XXi share the same inside plate (06-0200-30).

Shell and Front Panel Parts

Silver front panel - 06-0300-55 (5-pack: 06-0300-55-B) The exterior shell face of the 9100 helmet. Replaceable if cracked or heavily spatter-damaged. Available in the standard silver finish.

Shell with side windows - 06-0300-52SW For helmets equipped with side window cutouts. Side windows accept shade 5 side filters, improving peripheral vision during welding.

Wide-view grinding visor frame (9100 FX/FX-Air) - 06-0700-63 and 06-0700-64 For flip-front 9100 FX variants. The grinding visor frames are 06-0700-63 (standard) and 06-0700-64 (black). These are specific to flip-front configurations.

Headgear and Comfort Parts

Standard headband assembly - 06-0400-51 (5-pack: 06-0400-51-B) Full headband including ratchet adjustment and crown support. Replace when the ratchet wears or the assembly cracks.

Pivot mechanism - 06-0400-52 The pivot component of the headband, available separately.

Crown adjustment headband - 06-0400-53 and 06-0400-54 Variant headband components; 06-0400-53 and 06-0400-54 are identified in 3M’s 9100 FX-Air parts poster for alternative configurations.

Sweatband - 06-0200-54 (3/case, also 12/case as 06-0200-54-B) Comfort sweatband for the 9100 headband. Replace every few months in regular professional use.

Hard Hat Adapter

Hard hat adapter - 06-0014-00NR Mounts the 9100 shell to a standard hard hat brim. Same adapter across most 9100 configurations.

Adflo PAPR System Parts (For 9100 FX-Air)

The 9100 FX-Air is the Adflo-integrated variant. The Adflo system has its own separate parts:

Adflo battery - standard and heavy-duty Li-Ion packs The Adflo uses a rechargeable lithium-ion battery, not a coin cell. The heavy-duty Adflo battery (part 837631) provides 10-13 hours runtime. The standard battery provides approximately 8 hours. These are separate from the ADF’s 04-0320-00 batteries.

Adflo HEPA filter Replaced when breathing resistance increases or the low-flow alarm activates. Available from 3M in standard and spark-arrestor configurations.

Adflo odor filter An optional add-on for environments with gaseous contaminants in addition to particulates.

Where to Order

All 9100 series parts are available at 3m.com/speedglas, bakersgas.com, weld-ready.com, weldsupportparts.com, and on Amazon. For ADF cartridges and Adflo parts, purchasing from an authorized 3M Speedglas distributor ensures genuine parts and warranty support.

The 3M parts reference poster for the 9100-Air and 9100 FX-Air (available as a PDF on 3M’s website) provides a comprehensive visual parts diagram if you need to identify a part by its position in the helmet assembly.

Frequently Asked Questions

Are the inside cover lenses the same across all 9100 variants? No. Each variant uses a specific inside plate: 9100V (06-0200-10), 9100X (06-0200-20), 9100XX/XXi (06-0200-30). Only the outside cover lens (06-0200-51) is shared.

Can I upgrade a 9100XX to a 9100XXi? Yes, by replacing the ADF cartridge with the 06-0000-30i XXi cartridge. The shell, headband, and outside cover lenses remain the same.

How many batteries does the 9100 series use? Two per ADF, part 04-0320-00. They are located in the headband assembly.

What is the difference between the standard and scratch-resistant outside cover lens? The 06-0200-52 scratch-resistant plate has a harder surface coating that resists scratching from grinding debris and workpiece contact. For positional and grinding work, it lasts longer than the standard 06-0200-51.

Does the 9100 FX-Air have the same ADF as a standard 9100? The 9100 FX-Air uses a 9100 ADF (same cartridges) in a flip-front shell with the Adflo PAPR integration. The ADF parts are the same; the shell parts differ.

What is the Adflo battery part number? The heavy-duty Adflo battery is 837631 (approximately 10-13 hours runtime). The standard Adflo battery provides approximately 8 hours. Both are sold by 3M and authorized distributors.
