The Lincoln Viking 2450 is the mid-range entry point into the Viking series - a significant step up from budget helmets, with the 4C True Color lens that Lincoln developed to reduce the greenish tint common in the category, but more affordable than the 3350 flagship. This guide covers every major service part for the 2450, with part numbers and ordering notes.

Battery: Two CR2450 Required

The Viking 2450 uses CR2450 3V lithium coin-cell batteries, part number KP4491-1.

Important: The Viking 2450 requires 2 CR2450 batteries, not one. Lincoln’s documentation explicitly states this: the 3350 uses a single CR2450, while the 3250D FGS, 2450, and 1840 Series require two.

The KP4491-1 battery has 620 mAh capacity and is recharged through the solar panel on the helmet exterior during welding. In storage or low-use periods, the battery self-discharges and will eventually need replacement.

Lincoln MSRP is approximately 9.00 per battery from lincolnelectric.com. Third-party CR2450 cells (standard size) are also compatible - Panasonic is the most commonly recommended brand for consistent sizing and contact reliability.

Cover Lenses

Outside Cover Lens - KP2898-1

The polycarbonate plate on the exterior of the helmet. Sold in a 5-pack. The KP2898-1 is shared with the Viking 3350 series, which means if you run both helmets, one part number covers both. Lincoln lists it as compatible with “750S / 2450 / 3350 & ADV Helmets.”

Replace the outside cover lens when spatter pitting, scratches, or general haze reduce visibility through the lens. For MIG welding, expect to replace it every few weeks of active use. For TIG, much less often.

Inside Cover Lens - KP2931-1

The inside protective lens for the 2450 series is different from the 3350’s inside lens (KP3044-1). Do not order the 3350 inside lens for a 2450 - they are different dimensions.

The KP2931-1 measures 3.88” x 2.62” x 0.04” and is sold in a 5-pack from lincolnelectric.com (MSRP 3.81). The inside lens lasts much longer than the outside lens under normal use - it is protected from direct spatter and typically needs replacement every six months to a year in regular professional use.

Lincoln’s warranty explicitly states that spatter damage to the ADF cartridge is not covered if cover lenses were not properly installed on both sides of the cartridge. Keep both lenses installed at all times.

Headgear

Ratchet Headgear - KP4100-1

The full ratchet headgear assembly for the Viking 2450. The headgear includes the ratchet mechanism, crown strap, and sweatband. Replace when the ratchet slips under motion, the sweatband is worn out beyond refreshing, or pivot arms are cracked.

Hard Hat Adapter

Hard Hat Adapter - KP3047-1

For site environments requiring both a hard hat and welding helmet. Mounts the Viking 2450 shell to a standard hard hat brim. The same adapter fits across the Viking series.

Cheater (Magnifying) Lenses

Installs inside the helmet, positioned between the ADF cartridge and your eyes, providing magnification for close-up TIG work or any precision welding where reading-distance vision is a factor.

The 2450’s key limitation relative to the 3350 is the two-sensor configuration. With only two sensors, the 2450 is more susceptible to delayed or missed darkening in positions where one sensor is obstructed by your torch body or the joint geometry. For shop work in flat and horizontal positions, two sensors are generally adequate. For extensive overhead or out-of-position work, the 3350’s four sensors provide more reliable detection.
