Optrel Sphere X CLT Battery and Parts Guide
The Optrel Sphere X CLT is the Swiss-made successor to the beloved Crystal 2.0. It inherits the Crystal’s CLT true-color lens technology, brings a field of view over 30 percent larger than its predecessor, five arc sensors, external controls, and the same user-replaceable CR2032 battery system. If you maintained a Crystal 2.0, the Sphere X CLT maintenance will feel familiar.
Battery: Two CR2032 Cells
The Sphere X CLT uses two CR2032 3V lithium button cells. They are located under the rubber cover behind the satellite on the inside of the helmet shell.
This is confirmed directly from Optrel’s own FAQ and from a Q&A on the optrel.us product page: “The Sphere X has replaceable CR 2032 batteries. This model cannot be plugged in to charge.”
This is an important distinction from the Panoramaxx CLT 2.0, which uses a built-in USB-rechargeable battery. The Sphere X CLT uses coin cells, replaced by the user - no service partner needed, no USB cable required.
Optrel sells genuine replacement CR2032 cells as part 5014.010 - a 2-pack packaged specifically for optrel anti-glare cassettes. This is the correct part for both the Sphere X CLT and the Crystal 2.0.
Battery installation:
- Lift the rubber cover behind the satellite (the sensor bridge unit) on the inside of the helmet
- Remove both old CR2032 cells
- Install two fresh cells with correct polarity
- Replace the rubber cover
Battery diagnostic: The Sphere X CLT has a green LED. When it flashes green, both batteries need replacement.
Front Cover Lens (Outer): Parts 5000.212 and 5000.210
The front outer cover lens protects the ADF from spatter, arc radiation, and physical damage. For the Sphere X CLT, there are two options:

Inside Cover Lens (Inner): Part 5000.520
The inner cover lens protects the ADF from the fumes and residue generated inside the helmet. For the Sphere X CLT, the correct inner lens is part 5000.520 - the Sphere X Inside Cover Lens, sold in a 5-pack.
Available at bakersgas.com. The 5000.520 is specifically designed for the Sphere X series and may differ dimensionally from the Crystal 2.0 inner lens (5000.001). Use 5000.520 for the Sphere X CLT.
Repair Kit: Part 5003.500
The 5003.500 repair kit includes:
- 1 potentiometer knob
- 1 satellite back (the rubber battery cover)
- 1 sensitivity knob
Available at optrel.com/accessories and canadaweldingsupply.com. If the sensitivity knob or shade knob becomes loose, cracks, or is lost, this kit restores full control without needing an ADF replacement.
Headgear: IsoFit
The Sphere X CLT ships with Optrel’s IsoFit headgear. The IsoFit provides three-dimensional size, width, and height adjustment plus a Position Locker that keeps the helmet securely in place in the up or down position. It is the same headgear used on the Panoramaxx CLT 2.0 and Helix.
Replacement IsoFit headgear is available from Optrel directly. The Sphere X CLT also comes with the IsoFit starter kit included at purchase.
External Controls: A Genuine Advantage
The Sphere X CLT’s external controls for weld/grind mode, delay, and sensitivity are among its most appreciated features. Unlike the Crystal 2.0 which required reaching inside the shell to adjust settings, the Sphere X CLT allows mode changes and sensitivity adjustment with welding gloves on, from the outside of the helmet.
This external control layout also makes the sensitivity and delay knobs slightly more vulnerable to accidental adjustment during transport. Check your settings before each welding session.
