Welding Grinding Shield Guide
A welding grinding shield (also called a grinding face shield) is one of the most important - and most frequently skipped - pieces of PPE in the welding shop. Every time you grind a weld or cut metal, you generate high-velocity sparks and metal fragments that a welding helmet cannot adequately address (helmet lenses are down; shields protect the whole face during non-arc operations).

Why not use a welding helmet for grinding?
- Auto-darkening helmets are in passive (clear) mode during grinding - if the lens fails to darken from a reflected arc, injury risk is present
